ABOUT MARK

Mark Ritcher uses story, myth, and language to help us think more clearly as we interact with entertainment, rhetoric, and ideology. This is a space of attention: to slow down, weigh carefully, and ponder deeply in a world that incentivizes speed, certainty, and noise.

He does not want to tell people what to believe or who to be. Instead, he helps others understand how we learn to see and communicate, notice patterns, and make choices, so we can better understand life.

For decades, he taught English, film, faith, and writing by revolving around philosophical, historical, and ethical questions. He used story as a function to both mirror and map logic and feeling. Teaching, at its best, did not belong to rooms or institutions; instead, it persisted wherever the mind attended and cared to be held accountable.

He no longer teaches in a traditional classroom and now sees himself as a wanderer. He accepts this change without bitterness. He believes learning and teaching should not be limited to classrooms or formal programs, but can happen anywhere people come together to share ideas.

Here, story is treated as a language sculpted and etched into a tapestry of truth, stretched across the threads of time. Myth will not be seen as simple narratives for entertainment or escapism, and it will not take interest in simplified critiques about power and fantasy. Instead, we seek patterns that yield systems and use narrative elements as images of humanity.

Stories help us understand the complex parts of being human. Every student has a unique story, which is often not heard or understood. We all feel pressure to fit in because of social expectations, online trends, and other unseen forces, which can limit our creativity and honesty.

Mark wants to bring a human touch back to the humanities, so everyone can live their own story with meaning. He encourages us to slow down, find clarity, and focus, rather than look for easy shortcuts. He invites you to approach learning with real purpose and courage.
